Tall tales
Posted on April 13, 2014 by Tim
It's spring up here in my half of the world and with the thawing out it seems that the Fan Comic artists have come out of hibernation which is a good thing 'cause we've got another awesome to the max comic update. You may recall Inquisitor Hein's 30 which not only spoofs a move with a name that's ten time longer but also purports to reveal where the Amazons came from. Well, Goon News Everybody, get out your magnifying glasses 'cause here's some more highly detailed pages which start on page 40. The images are so big and dense that they may appear a little fuzzy when they first come up - that's caused by the compression inherent in our framework. Just click on the image and you'll get the big, clear one.

Remember Tonya, Bender's opponent, nemesis, and eventual partner from Stench and Stenchibility (7ACV25)? Well, she's back, and she's got a new name, Dollface. It's a new Fan Fiction by Gulliver63 and it's bad new for Bender, 'cause the sweet little girl has joined the DonBot and his gangsters, and Bender is in danger of sleeping with the fishes. Come on over and enjoy the story...or we'll make you an offer you can't refuse.

And lastly but not leastly is an amusing and edgy Fan Fiction by dinkdrinker. It's called 'Cheeper' by the Dozen. In it Fry really lays an egg when he tries to make breakfast and the Professor is experimenting again. Edges near lines man was not meant to cross in typical dinkdrinker fashion.
Monkey business

So about this time of year, more or less, for the last several years, a random collection of some of us what inhabit the Futurama Madhouse Message Board, often abbreviated as FMMB, have staged a little get together somewhere in the USofA, and because we were predominately Fan Fiction writers, we called it the FMMB Fan Fiction Writer's Symposium, or F3WS for short. Well, this year the artists almost outnumbered the writers and their output took center stage. Attending were myself, Gulliver63, kaspired, and Marloc. You can see a couple of photos of our ugly mugs in the gatherings section of Fan's Photos. El-Man joined us by Skype for a couple of hours, and dinkdrinker and Umbreon by IM. For those of us physically present, we found a neat place to take the pictures - Bender's Alley. How cool was that? The pic you see here was the official invite pic created by this year's host . And yes, we found where they hid the beer.

One of the cooler things to come out of this year's gather was this collaboration between kaspired and Gulliver63 on this pic of a devolving Amy. They both worked on the pic in turns, passing back and forth, and each sent in a version of it, I suspect one is slightly more finished that the other. It was a real hoot watching the masters at work.

This last item didn't happen at F3WS, but it's still a collaborative effort and we had the parties responsible on-line for a bit. It's a Comic Transcript of the latest issue, #70, titled The Devil and Professor F., whcih dinkdrinker and Umbreon worked up for us.

Next year in Jerusalem! (or maybe the US state of Washington).
Ummmmm ....

So it's April 1, also known as April Fools day. I s'pose I should lead off with something utterly fictitious or do this update all in alien one or some such fun, but sadly I'm tired and seem to have left all of my creativity somewhere, so prepare for a boring, bland news update. But what I have is neither boring or bland - just the opposite in fact. It's a bunch of new pages to !iMmOrTaL!'s Fan Comic Welcome To The World of Sorrow. Check out Fry's adventures in a parallel universe where nobody knows who he is, and look for some cameo appearances. The new stuff starts on page 51.

And look who's back - it's Rush, back after a six month hiatus with a new Fan Fiction titled Bendanthrope, which is a combination of 'Bender' and 'misanthrope', which pretty much sums up Bender as he annoys the Professor.
Happy (somewhat belated) Birthday Futurama
Posted on March 30, 2014 by Tim
Ok, so I'm a couple of days late, insert standard excuse here. But, a couple of days ago, Futurama celebrated it's 15th birthday, and Awalex felt that there should be a birthday party with women jumping out of a cake, so here it is! It's been a great fifteen years, and here's to another great fifteen years.
Walkers of the day and the night

Woo Hoo! Lots for yummy Fan Comic goodness today, because Pieter Antonissen has sent in a whole bunch (13) of new pages to his comic Four Better or For Worse. Packed into those pages we get to see Zapp leading a search and rescue and find out all kinds of cool things like where Mr. Pitt's people come from and how Amy turns Mutant Atomic Superboys into Mutant Atomic Supermen. The new stuff starts on page 159.

And say "Hello" to new contributor Spaceman130 who sends four new pics. Naturally there's a back story, and I'll let him tell it from here: “ At the time I drew them, I was playing a video game for PS3 called 'Vampire Rain: Altered Species', which is where the uniforms and weapons were inspired from. If you're not familiar with it, it's a stealth action game. Basically, you play as part of a four-member team that goes around Los Angeles trying to exterminate vampire-like creatures called 'Nightwalkers' that can disguise themselves as humans and attack with superhuman speed and strength. I thought it'd be a fun idea to swap modern day L.A. for 31st century New New York City and have Fry, Leela, Bender and Hermes be a combat unit dealing with these creatures in their own universe (think the Simpsons mod for Doom). I chose to draw them because I found them to be the most suitable replacement characters for the original characters in the game. There's a few parts where you have to go through sewers and even a mission where you have to escort a professor. Similarities like those made me come up with the idea for crossing VR:AS with Futurama.”.
They had to start somewhere ...

A long time ago, in a reality far, far away, we ran a fun little competition called Real World Futurama where people found things in the real world with Futurama related names on them and sent in photos. Well, whoo'd a thunk, but a couple of days ago another one shows up. Lord Nibbler found this pic of the now abandoned Wong Grocery Company store (est. 1901) - obviously the Wong clan had to get their start somewhere. He didn't say where it was located, but you can check this and all the other findings in Fan Photos / Real World Futurama.

That concludes the SHOW part of today's update. Now the TELL, actually a couple of them, in the form of Fan Fictions. First up is a new on called Piss on the Hydrant by Zoey Webber and it tells the tale of Bender entering the PE crew in a worst costume contest. Fry goes as a fire hydrant, but naturally he's got a piece missing, and it's all downhill from there.

And next is part 7 of Dwayne Anderson's Space Age Doofus. Check it out and catch up on the latest going on in the Aniverse and how Fry is a looser there too.
Do not try this at home (or in your car)
Posted on March 11, 2014 by Tim
Or someone elses car in which you are riding. This new Fan Art from Awalex shows us why we shouldn't cover the driver's eye(s), play with the controls, or wave finglongers in front of their noses. Do that and you might rear end some other show, and that would be bad. It is nice to know that even a thousand years in the future cars will still be available with stick shifts and fake wood grain finishes.

And dusting off some HTML code I have'nt used in a while, heres two new pics from Hektious - a sketch of Amy and a painting of Kif.
Read all about it

Ok, so things have been a little quiet lately. In fact, the only thing to come in is a new Fan Fiction from Zoey Webber. It's called When Ants Attack. It's set in the aftermath of the great casino heist of Viva Mars Vegas; read and watch as Bender gets busted for trying to build an illegal casino of his own, until he hears of a planet called Sandhill where ants live and where human rule don't apply. That's when he makes his move and Fry, Leela, Hermes, Amy, and Zoidberg are forced to help.
Punks and Sprites
Posted on February 24, 2014 by Tim
Got just a little bit of new Fan Art to share today. Quazie89 sends along four, that's right, count 'em, four pics. This one has Leela sporting a cool, punk hair cut and Fry in a cool, black jacket. You can cehck out the rest on her fanart page.

Here's something a little different - first it's possibly the fastest thing we've ever hosted 'cause it's by 742mph. Schlee sez “It's a ‘sprite sheet’, which is a set of poses and animations of Bender in a retro 8-bit style. It’s essentially how I imagine Bender would appear if he were a playable character in a mid-‘80s Nintendo game.”
Fantastic Voyages

Huzzah! A few submission have finally trickled in so I can actually crawl out from under my rock and update. First is some new Fan Art by the very patient Hektious (and by patient I mean he sent thees in over a week ago and what with one thing or another I've only now gotten 'round to them ). He sends three, this one is for the Kiff and Amy fans out there and you can check out the other two on his fanart page.

Next is an illustrated Fan Fiction from Gulliver63. It's called The Amazing Bureaucratic Voyage in which the PE crew go on their most Fantastic Voyage ever, it's a journey of miniature proportions; the Planet Express crew get shanghaied into taking a shrunken vehicle into Morgan Proctor's brain. By the time it's over, they find out that the Bureaucracy is much more dangerous than anything they've faced in their incredible voyages.
